Laundry service in East Melbourne
Living in East Melbourne
Grand period homes, apartment buildings, and the medical precinct around Epworth Freemasons and the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital. The Jolimont and Wellington Parade corridors include serviced apartments and healthcare facilities with commercial laundry requirements.
East Melbourne’s streetscape reads as grand Victorian terraces (Clarendon Street, Hotham Street, George Street, and Powlett Street are lined with some of Melbourne’s finest heritage homes), but about 70% of dwellings are actually apartments or flats. Heritage mansion conversions, 1960s flat blocks, and newer luxury developments are spread throughout. Over half the residents rent, and average household size is just 1.8 people. It’s a suburb of professionals, downsizers, and medical workers rather than families. The medical precinct generates a steady flow of visiting specialists and patients staying in the cluster of serviced apartments along Victoria Parade and Wellington Parade, and these short-stay residents regularly need laundry done.
The heritage terraces have direct street-level front doors behind cast-iron fences: straightforward access. Purpose-built apartment blocks use intercom entry. Newer luxury buildings near the gardens may have concierge. Include your building details and any access instructions when you book.
